It started out as watering the flowers.  But, it was such a nice day, the water got the best of them.  Through many clothing changes, they had fun making rainbows, watering the dandelions, drinking out of easter eggs, and soaking pretty much everything.  Grateful for two fun girls and a beautiful day to go with it.

Best of the Weekend

I spilled gas in the back of the car last week.  It really stunk.  So, off it went to be spiffed up and freed of its bad odor.  It came back just in time for a trip to KC, still a little damp.  Note to self:  Do not get the car detailed the day of a trip.  It WILL NOT have time to air out and you will battle a wet towel smell for the weekend.  But, on the bright side, wet towel smell is better than spilled gas smell.  

 Anyway, off we went to the KC temple open house.  We had cupcakes, met fantastic friends, played at parks, ate at a railcar restaurant, changed in the car, more than once, visited a KC ward, ate lots of fruit snacks, stopped to get milk for a bottle, lost a bottle, bought another bottle, found a bottle, ate more fruit snacks, found a Target, drove in the rain and wind, spotted no tornadoes, and drove with the windows down for some fresh air.  But THE BEST was the temple tour.  What an awesome blessing to have our whole family in the temple together.  It is an absolutely beautiful temple, decorated with rich, warm tones.  We were able to have discussions and help our children feel eternity just for a second.  It makes everything else seem mundane and temporal as you walk and feel the spirit of the temple.  We all felt the love the area Saints have for their very own temple and ached for those early pioneers who were persecuted and denied building a temple so close by.  We all felt them rejoice in the realization of a dream, even though it took 180 years to complete. Our only regret and wish is that we were closer and could enjoy the temple and all the beauty that it has to offer more often.  Thanks again to the Palmer's and Arnita's for meeting us somewhere in the middle.   

It really was a great weekend.

April 10 - 

We went to the pool.  I need to take my camera next time.  Anna insists on having a life jacket on while sitting in the gutter of the pool.  Every now and then, she would topple over for a quick dip.  

She was not so pleased with this arrangement.  

But, she kept climbing down to perch on the gutter for another unexpected dunk.  

On the way to the pool Jill was in a hilarious mood that ended with her calling Casey a funny name.  Because we were all laughing in hysterics, none of us can remember anything except that it ended in "slob".  Funny girl.

We still have caterpillars.  They won't be butterflies.  They will be moths.  Google eastern tent worm, click on the images, and you'll see how disgusting they are.  Yuck.  And even worse, they squirt if you step on them.  We have stained concrete, but not the good kind.

April 7 - The Jung's and Wood's came over for bbq and a glow in the dark easter egg hunt.  Definitely a hit with the kids.  All requested a repeat next year.  I wish I could have taken pictures, but that just doesn't work with my camera.  It was fun to see the kids running with their glow bracelets and necklaces hunting for eggs.  Michele brought a fabulous cobb salad dip that I have been craving ever since.  

So, a good day filled with filling eggs and filling our tummies.

April 5 - 

We have been invaded.

Out went the kids.

Bags full of furry "web worms."

Yep.  It was gross.  Every time I backed  the car out I would squish 10-20 of them.  The kids did one cleaning before school and took the bags of caterpillars to school.  Sadly, the bags were sent back home.  We dumped all of the bags in the garbage with Anna screaming, "Zach, garbage, my cattapillrrs."  All I could see when I closed my eyes last night was a scene of very hungry caterpillars.

April 4 - Jill took me out to the tramp to show me "caterpillar bones."  

With all of the furry things around, it did look like their bones had been dumped on the tramp.

April 3 - Tried to get to swim team tonight, but the pool was closed because a boy barfed.

April 2 - Jeanalee invited the girls over for a little Easter egg hunt.  It was a grand time and the girls got lots of loot.  Jill disappeared upstairs before and after the hunt, enjoying American Girl dolls and bunk beds.  Anna followed the girls and made quite a mess of her melted easter chocolate.  Thanks goes to Laurette for planning and dealing with the mess that follows a pack of 2-4 year olds.

April 1 - April Fools.  The best was general conference, as always.  Loved all of the reminders to "stop it" and get back to what is important.  The day ended with a short sheet prank on Ron.  He caught it a little too early, so next year I need to be even a little more devious.  This is exponentially funnier if you experienceRon's nightly ritual of making sure the top sheet is sandwiched between bottom sheet and blanket exactly where he wants it to be.  It has been a source of much mocking through the years.

March 30 - Track has officially started.  Sam wasn't feeling well after spending all-day in Springfield for math and fun, so Zach was running solo.  He did a great job and hopes to improve from a 6:55 mile by the end of the season.  I can't believe we are into our third year of track.  Crazy.
