Zach's temple trip

Here is a little post about Zach and his grand desire to go to the temple.  For a few months before he turned twelve, all Zach wanted for his birthday was to go to the temple and do baptisms.  He talked about it often, with great gusto at every turn.  He wanted to know how, when, and why couldn't it be any sooner.  He made an appointment with Brother Brinkerhoff to get a recommend and then danced around the house proclaiming he would never be without one again.   But, we had to wait until he was officially a deacon and for Ron to have a day off to make the trek to St. Louis to get Zach to the temple.  It finally happened on Friday and Zach was able to baptisms with family names from Kat.  It was awesome and the first of five trips Zach wants to make to the temple this year.  He is a great example that temple service is a joy and that it should always be our focus.  Thanks for being such a great kid, Zach, and for sharing your love for the temple.

10K race day

Snow was falling, it was bitter cold, and the whole way into town I kept telling Ron, "This is stupid."  I'm not sure what or who was stupid; the race, or the participants.  I had three goals:  don't poop my pants, don't be last, and run under 55.  I think Ron's only goal was to beat me.  All goals were accomplished, so we finished and quickly got back in the car, racing back to a warm cozy home.
